Popularly known as Versace, Gianni Versace S.p.A is a fashion company based in Italy. In 1978, Gianni Versace founded the very first boutique in Via della Spiga, Milan and the brand became immediately popular. Today, Versace is one of the best-regarded fashion houses in the world thanks to its original, out-of-the-box designs.
The brand managed to stay afloat despite of the murder of its founder, Gianni Versace, in 1997. His sister, Donatella, stepped in as the creative director of Versace and his brother, Santo Versace, became CEO. Donatella's daughter, Allegra, received control of 50% of Gianni Versace S.p.A. on her 18th birthday.
Versace design, market and distribute all their luxury accessories under the umbrella of the Versace Group.
The Versace eyewear department has a large team of stylists and designers who collaborate in groups. The collectives work under the supervision of Donatella Versace. The first Versace eyewear products were regarded as a true break from the standard, because the designs featured unusually large lenses.
